General conditions of sale for exceptional upgrades 1. Definitions
The expressions and terms in the following General Conditions of Sale are defined as follows: - "Customer": an individual adult, having booked in the Economy, Premium Economy or Business Cabin on a long- or medium-haul flight provided by Air France, and displaying an Air France flight number. - "Air France": Société Air France, a limited liability company, incorporated under the laws of France and having its registered office at 45, rue de Paris, F-95747 Roissy CDG Cedex, France, and registered with the Registry of Commerce and Companies of Bobigny under number 420 495 178. - "Economy Cabin": area of the aircraft dedicated to Customers who have paid an economy fare. - "Premium Economy Cabin": area of the aircraft located between the Business and Economy Cabins, dedicated to Customers who have paid a Premium Economy fare. - "Business Cabin": area of the aircraft dedicated to Customers who have paid a Business fare. - "General Conditions of Sale" or "Conditions" or "Present": these present conditions that define the conditions of sale for an Upgrade. - "Option": the possibility offered to the Customer to purchase an Upgrade under the conditions defined in the present General Conditions of Sale and subject to availability. - "Price": the cost of an Upgrade, starting at, for a long- or medium-haul flight, per person, all taxes included and contingent on the destination. - "Upgrade": the opportunity to travel in a travel class superior to the one initially reserved, and which can be purchased by the Customer under the present General Conditions of Sale. - "Long-Haul Flights": a long-haul flight provided by Air France and with an AF flight number, which, in some cases, offers the opportunity to purchase an Upgrade. - "Medium-Haul Flights": a medium-haul flight provided by Air France and with an AF flight number, which, in some cases, offers the opportunity to purchase an Upgrade.
2 - Process and conditions for an Upgrade purchase
2.1 Purchasing the Option is possible online or by using the Self-Service Kiosks in metropolitan France and the United States (except Chicago). - A Customer may purchase an Upgrade for certain long-haul flights provided by Air France by following these steps. First, the Customer receives an Upgrade offer by an e-mail from Air France. All passengers included in the booking file are eligible to benefit from the Upgrade offer. The Client can find and select the Option in his or her booking file (accessible via the “Review/modify your bookings” area) beginning 48 hours and up to 3 hours before the long-haul flight's departure. If the long-haul flight is preceded by a connecting flight, the deadline is calculated starting from the first flight's departure time. Once the Option has been purchased, the Customer receives an e-mail confirming the Upgrade purchase. If the Option is not available, the Customer is kept informed via a message that appears in the booking file. - A Customer may purchase an Upgrade for certain long- and medium-haul flights provided by Air France, when checking in online starting from 30 hours before the flight's departure, and until the Check-in Deadline. 2.2 The Option is available for a fee, and when available, it is exclusively available to Customers traveling in the Economy, Premium Economy or Business Cabins. 2.3 The Option is available only for certain long- and medium-haul flights provided by Air France. The number of eligible seats for this offer is limited. 2.4 The Customer must purchase the Option by means of one of the following payment cards: American Express, Mastercard/Eurocard, Visa, Diners, UATP, JCB. 2.5 Air France will do its best to respect the cabin change that will occur following the Option purchase in accordance with the present General Conditions of Sale. The present conditions inform the Customer that Air France could, for operational reasons related to security requirements and/or safety, be obliged to modify seat assignments even after boarding. In this case, Air France will not be able to deliver the Option, and the Customer who was unable to benefit from the purchased Option according to the present conditions will be reimbursed the Option price according to the process defined in article 3 below. 2.6 The Option proposed to the Customer is individual and non-negotiable. 2.7 In accordance with article L121-20-4 of the Consumer Code, after the Option's purchase, the Customer does not have a right to cancel the purchase. 2.8 The Option purchased by a Customer is non-modifiable and non-exchangeable. 2.9 Customers belonging to the Flying Blue loyalty program accumulate Miles based on their booking's initial travel class if they identified themselves as a Flying Blue member using their card number when they purchased their electronic ticket. 2.10 The Customer purchasing the Option can only do so for himself or herself or for a person who has designated the Customer as a proxy to make the Option purchase in his or her name, henceforth referred to as the "Constituent Passenger." In this case, the Constituent Passenger is considered to have read and accepted the present General Conditions of Sale.
3 - Reimbursement conditions
The Customer who has purchased the Option can be reimbursed the Option's cost only in the following cases: - The flight for which he or she purchased the Option was cancelled - The purchased Option was ultimately not offered by Air France
4 - Baggage allowance
The Customer who has purchased the Option receives the same baggage allowance available to his or her new travel class.
